A friend asked me to create a wedding scrapbook/ album for an associate of hers. How exciting to get a project like this!! Let’s talk about the paper dress, shown in the first two photos below. It’s a combo of paper and fabric with some added bling. I got the idea from Gabrielle Pollacco, you can find her on YouTube under Vintage Dress Mixed Media Canvas Tutorial. The idea to use fabric came from Crafting for Almost Anyone, also on YouTube.
The fabric is a blue-green satiny blend and the skirt is sheer with gold glittery flourishes, both found in the wedding/ fashion section at JoAnn Fabrics. Both were originally $9.99 a yard, but on sale 40% off. (yay!!)
These papers are from 2 different collections, since the album will include both the wedding and the honeymoon. They are the Forever and Always Stack and the Linen Closet Stack, both by DCWV.
I will be using a binding method shown on Mini Album Tutorial Start to Finish! by Corenescreations. This video on YouTube is amazing! If you want to do a mini from start to finish, this is the tutorial to watch. I was impressed that she was able to articulate how to do the hinge so easily. Now I get it! Also, how to wrap your covers with paper and why you want to use a smooth paper, not textured. I have not had good results when wrapping with textured paper at all and there is a reason for it.
I have my album not quite half way done, but had to tell about this video. I have not gotten to the hinge yet, but soon will. I know how many pages and the height of each of them, so I can make it at any time.
I sure hope you have found this post and the video to be helpful, as I have, much thanks to Corene! I will post more as I get more of the album done. Enjoy that video!
One of my favorite people to watch on You Tube is Schell Fabian (BabyTweetums). Her work is so clean and easy to recreate and her videos are very easy to follow. This envelope mini is another one of her projects. She saw Mary’s daughter (Mary of CardsTv on YouTube) make a similar envelope album and I liked Schell’s version so much, I did one just like it, except I used all the stickers that came in the kit for my mini.
How cute and easy to make! Check out Schell’s YouTube video for instructions to make one of these. Here’s what we used:
The Paper Studios (Hobby Lobby) I Heart my Dog Page Kit
Envelopes- 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches (Paper Studios also makes these in several colors) I have white envelopes already, so I used those.
Solid color cardstock that coordinates with patterned papers in the kit.
This album took hardly any time at all to make. The kit makes it easy to decorate and everything coordinates perfectly. Look in the sticker section of Hobby Lobby and you may find extra stickers that coordinate with the kit! What a fun project this was to do!
Update on what is happening now. I decided to do by basement stairs and have gotten the risers painted.
The Risers are painted with Behr White Cloud and the treads are being done with Behr Tar Black. I did have some additive put into the black for an anti-skid texture. I will have to say, getting a high quality paint and brush has made a HUGE difference. I can make messes with the best of them, but now cleanup is easy and I didn’t make huge drips from any paint.
When I do projects, I love having a cup of Joe close while I work. With that said, while sitting on the steps painting the risers, I came very close to dunking my paint brush in that coffee cup! TWICE. Will post more when the project is close to being finished.
Once again, I looked to Pinterest for ideas for my shower storage, and Pinterest rarely fails. Dollar store bins, shower curtain hooks, and a tension rod. I think everyone buys a tension rod at some point and then doesn’t use it, so check your garage or linen closet for that lost tension rod, ummkay? Hang it lengthwise at the top of the shower space and use those hooks to hang your dollar bins on it. BOOYAH!!!! DONE. My cost here, about $4 after locating the tension rod. Oh, I also did the shower in the master bath as well. Pics later because its late and hubby is in bed.
I bought two Pfaltzgraff blue glass jars with silver handles because I liked them, bad thing was trying to figure out how I was gonna use them and make them look good. Going back to my go-to place, (Pinterest), I found something I really liked. So here is the result:
I really like how they turned out, hope you do too!
I always make cards for Christmas and put a lot of work into some of them. This year things were a bit hectic so I did the best I could. I used completely hand made and a card from Stamp n Up ( I added my own stuff inside these).
Top Left, my handmade card. Top Right, Stamp N Up card, bottom left is my addition to the inside of the Stamp N Up card. I use Spectrum Noir colored pencils. Colored pencils are my new interest, love them!
